Bar Stock Exchange, Shiro’s in Mumbai and Summer House Café, Raasta in Delhi are among many bars and restaurants which are turning away gay couples for the new year weekend.
Some of these are allowing them only when they are accompanied by women. When a gay couple visited The Bar Stock Exchange at Kamala Mill, Lower Parel, they were stopped by the bouncers, saying male couples are not allowed. The couple held their hands and tried to convince them, but this was met with laughters among the staff of The Bar Stock Exchange. Lesbian couples get entry but just for entertaining straight men there. They are actually more vulnerable inside.
When the deputy editor of DNA, Yogesh Pawar called up the place, he was told that there are many other spaces where gay people can go, which shows Bar Stock exchange is a poor place with pathetic staff.
Another restaurant, Shiro’s in Worli, shut its door for gay couples. After DNA reports, it gave some hilarious and ridiculous excuses which is not even worth mentioning.
These people at Bar stock exchange, Shiro’s, Summer House and Raasta are sick, very sick. They are so full of hate and homophobia. But hatred can be cured with love. Wish these people get well soon. Send them red roses and write to them #GayWellSoon.
Before that, give these restaurants zero ratings and poor feedback (at zomato, fb or anywhere) so that they would realize how miserable they are!
